This Privacy Policy explains how What?Pet™ ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the What?Pet mobile app or this website.
What What?Pet does
What?Pet helps you compare pet compatibility based on your lifestyle, preferences, and practical needs. Depending on how you use the app, we may process the information described below.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use What?Pet, we may collect:
- Account information — If you sign in, we may receive identifiers from Firebase Authentication, such as your email address or details from the sign-in provider you choose.
- Quiz and preference data — Answers and preferences you provide in the compatibility quiz.
- Saved pets and app activity — Pets you save, compare, or otherwise interact with in the app.
- Chat data — Messages and related context you submit in the in-app assistant, used to generate responses.
- Purchase and subscription status — Payments for subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not directly by What?Pet. We receive entitlement and transaction-related information through Apple, Google, and RevenueCat so we can provide premium features. We do not receive your full payment card details.
- Analytics and diagnostics — We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to diagnose crashes. This may include device type, app version, and event data.
- Messages you send us — If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to include.
How we use information
- Provide matching, discovery, saved pets, comparison, and assistant features
- Maintain your account and sync your data where applicable
- Validate premium subscriptions and entitlements
- Improve reliability, performance, and the overall product experience
- Respond to support enquiries and privacy-related requests
- Meet legal and compliance obligations
How information is shared
We use service providers to operate What?Pet, including:
- Google Firebase — authentication, analytics, crash reporting, and related infrastructure
- RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management
- Apple and Google — app distribution and payment processing for in-app purchases
- AI service providers — to generate assistant responses when you use in-app chat features
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.
Data retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the app, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Some information may be retained where required by law, fraud prevention, security, tax or accounting obligations, or app store and payment processing requirements.
Account deletion
You can delete your account directly in the What?Pet app: My Account → Delete account.
Deleting your account removes your account-linked profile data and cloud-synced app data associated with your account, such as saved pets and chat history, where applicable. Some information may be retained where required by law, fraud prevention, security, tax or accounting obligations, or app store and payment processing requirements. Subscription and purchase records may remain with Apple, Google, or RevenueCat as part of their billing systems; we do not control deletion of those payment records.

Your choices
- Some features may be available without creating an account, depending on how you use the app.
- You can delete your account in the app as described under Account deletion above.

- Your device settings may limit certain analytics or diagnostic data collection.
Children
What?Pet is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in your region. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International users
If you use What?Pet from outside your home country, your information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date.
